News from e-malt Australia: 2004/2005 barley pool indicators lifted by ABB Grain Ltd

ABB Grain Ltd has lifted its 2004/05 malting barley pools a further A$5/t, following an increase in late June, Ezigrain posted on July 14.

The gross malting barley pool indicator for both South Australia and Victoria, for the No.1 pool, is now A$220-A$230/t. For Victoria, the No.2 pool is A$218-A$228/t. There is no No.2 pool in South Australia.

ABB’s general manager – marketing, Nigel Officer, said that with the majority of 2004/05 season grain already sold the company was able to give a clearer indication of what growers could expect to receive as a final gross return.

“The limited amount of grain available for export meant most of the exportable grain went to higher returning markets, and the grain was able to be sold quickly,” Mr Officer said. “The markets have firmed of late which has also given rise to our indicators lifting.”

The feed barley pools remain steady at A$150-160/t for the No.1 pool and A$140-150/t for the No.2 pool (South Australia) and A$165-175/t for the No.1 pool and A$160-170/t for the No.2 pool (Victoria). The Victorian malting 3 pools also remain the same.
